Gippsland region insurance and financial roadshow announced

A free insurance and financial roadshow session will be held for people in the Gippsland region who have been affected by the recent bushfires.

The session will take place on Monday 16 March, from 6.30 pm. It will be held at the Traralgon South Community Hall (address below).

Lawyers from Bushfire Legal Help partner organisations, Insurance Ombudsman and Insurance Council of Australia will provide information, take questions and provide assistance to anyone with a problem:

  • dealing with your insurance company
  • your insurance policy – definitions, signing a release
  • the amount insured under your policy
  • the amount received under your policy
  • reviewing your insurance payout – a four week deadline applies
  • underinsurance – what it means
  • the Insurance Ombudsman – how it works
  • the Insurance Code of Practice
  • information on claims
  • information on complaints
  • disaster claims review rights
  • mortgage stress – personal and financial hardship
  • mortgage payments on destroyed property
  • replacement loans and rebuilding.
