Children's Court (Family Division) Panel

Membership of this panel entitles practitioners to submit Children's Court (Family Division) applications for legal assistance using the simplified grants process. Membership is by firm rather than by individual practitioner.

Appointment to the Children’s Court (Family Division) panel is limited for a period of five years

To be considered for inclusion on this panel you must:

  • be admitted as practitioners of the Supreme Court of Victoria, have signed the High Court Roll and hold a current practising certificate under the Legal Practice Act, and
  • have experience in the practice of legally aided Children’s Court (Family Division) matters.

Inclusion on the panel is considered by a committee appointed by VLA which may include:

  • the Managing Director of VLA
  • the Director – Finance, Assignments and Business Division or nominee
  • the Director – Family Law Program or nominee
  • a nominee of the Law Institute of Victoria
  • a nominee of the Bar Council
  • nominees from the relevant courts.
