Research and evaluation

We undertake research and evaluation to understand the legal services that work best for different clients and different circumstances.

Our research and evaluation aims to:

  • support innovation through evaluating new practice, policy and service models
  • build client perspectives and experience into service design and delivery
  • increase community and stakeholder understanding and recognition of the function and value of VLA
  • provide evidence to inform future, sustainable investment in legal aid.

Collaboration

We collaborate with:

  • our partners within the legal assistance sector
  • independent researchers and evaluation professionals
  • organisations and universities

in order to undertake research, analysis and evaluation that is aligned with our strategic priorities.

Our evaluation projects

We deliver a number of services to the community and aims to address complex problems through a number of means. There is an increasing need for evaluation at Victoria Legal Aid to:

  • help the organisation understand what is being achieved
  • help identify possible improvements
  • meet the expectations and reporting requirements of funders.
