Indigenous summer clerkships

VLA offers four six-week summer clerkship positions to law students with an Indigenous background each year in the university summer break. The program commences in mid-January and concludes late February.

Summer clerkships at VLA are different because:

  • you are welcome to commence a summer clerkship at any stage of your law degree
  • you are able to return in successive years until you have finished your studies
  • placements are available in the Criminal Law, Civil Law and Family, Youth & Children's Law divisions at VLA’s Melbourne office, or in a regional office
  • you may also participate in VLA’s community legal education and law reform activities
  • we aim to accommodate your needs, regarding location and areas of interests.

See the selection criteria for summer clerkships.
