Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Clerkship Program

Every year we offer placements in our clerkship program to law students who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.

Our clerkship is unique because:

  • we only offer our clerkships to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander law students
  • you can commence a clerkship at any stage of your law degree
  • we offer multiple part time and full time positions each year
  • placement length can vary in time
  • you can return in successive years until you have finished your studies
  • placements are available in our Criminal Law program, Family Law program or our Civil Justice program in Melbourne
  • positions are also available in our suburban and regional offices
  • you may also participate in our community legal education and law reform activities
  • we aim to accommodate your needs, regarding location and areas of interests.

'I got my first taste of working at Victoria Legal Aid while undertaking a clerkship with the Aboriginal Clerkship Program.
