Info session for lawyers and community workers on Family Advocacy and Support Services

Info session for lawyers and community workers on Family Advocacy and Support Services

Tuesday, 12 June 2018

Do you work with clients affected by family violence? Lawyers and community sector workers are invited to learn more about the Family Advocacy and Support Services (FASS) at the Dandenong family law registry this Thursday 14 June.

FASS provides integrated duty lawyer and family violence support services to support families who have experienced, used or are alleged to have used family violence.

This session is an opportunity to learn about how FASS can best assist your clients through the services available at the Dandenong family law registry and enable you to effectively refer clients and families to the service.

When: Thursday 14 June 2018 at 2.45 pm to 4.00 pm

Where: Dandenong Commonwealth Law Courts, 53–55 Robinson Street, Dandenong

Guest speakers will include a member of the Federal Circuit Court of Australia judiciary, along with our FASS duty lawyers and family violence support workers.

Who should attend

We encourage anyone who works with clients affected by family violence, including legal aid and community lawyers, private practitioners and community organisations, to attend this session.

You will learn about how your client can be linked in with legal and non-legal supports at court, the benefits of engaging with the service and how you can best use FASS to improve outcomes for your clients.

Family lawyers may be especially interested to hear from our FASS family violence support workers and how they can provide support to clients – even where legally represented – to address and manage clients who present as victims or perpetrators of family violence.

We look forward to sharing our information about FASS with you.
