Louise Glanville, Managing Director of Victoria Legal Aid

The Attorney-General has today appointed Louise Glanville as the new Managing Director of Victoria Legal Aid (VLA).

VLA Board Chairperson, Bill Jaboor has welcomed the appointment and says he's looking forward to working with Ms Glanville to lead VLA into the future.

‘Louise brings a range of experience that is highly relevant to this role. She's well placed to lead the organisation, continuing its tradition of supporting the most disadvantaged Victorians as they navigate the justice system.’

‘I am confident Louise will maintain her passionate advocacy for people with disabilities and those in the community who experience disadvantage’ said Mr Jaboor.

Ms Glanville has extensive experience across the justice, social services, and government sectors. She is currently the chief executive officer of the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation, a position she has held since May 2017. Before this, she spent three years as deputy chief executive officer at the National Disability Insurance Agency.

She was the inaugural Director of Victoria’s Neighbourhood Justice Centre, and has worked for the Victorian Public Advocate, the Victorian Department of Justice, the Commonwealth Attorney-General’s Department, as well as local government, academia, the private sector, and ministerial offices. Louise holds qualifications in law and social work.

Ms Glanville said, ‘it is a great privilege to be asked to take on this role, given the importance of legal aid to the justice system.’

This appointment comes following the departure of Bevan Warner in early August this year. Acting Managing Director Peter Noble will remain in the role until 5 October, providing continuity for the organisation until Ms Glanville commences on 15 October.
