Review of Victoria Legal Aid family law services

Tuesday, 18 March 2014

Victoria Legal Aid’s planned review of family legal aid services, expected to start in the second half of 2014, received media attention this week.

Director Family, Youth and Children’s Law Services Nicole Rich says preliminary planning and discussions with stakeholders have been under way in recent months.

‘We have flagged that we will be reviewing our services to ensure they are fair, as widely available as possible and sustainable into the longer term,’ she said.

‘We will not be in a position to make any decisions before we know the outcome of the May Federal Budget or National Partnership Agreement in June, but we want to ensure that we undertake a broad and thoughtful review of our services before we consider any changes, one that also includes feedback from the community and stakeholders.

More details about the review – and how stakeholders and community members can have their say – will be available mid-year.'
