Experience

Freia is the Manager of Victoria Legal Aid Family Dispute Resolution Service.

Freia is a nationally accredited mediator under the National Mediation Accreditation Scheme and completed training in mediating international parental child abduction cases with the German association MiKK in Australia and Japan.

Freia has previously practised as a lawyer in civil, criminal and family law matters for legally aided clients.

For many years she was an independent children’s lawyer, leading the team at Victoria Legal Aid. Freia served as the chairperson of the first Law Institute of Victoria children’s law specialisation advisory committee, and is currently a board member of International Social Service Australia and steering committee member of the Greater Melbourne Family Law Pathways Network.
