Information for co-ordinators

Rostered private practitioner duty lawyer schemes are co-ordinated by an allocated person within a Victoria Legal Aid office or private firm for each location.

Responsibilities of co-ordinators

Co-ordinators prepare and distribute the duty lawyer scheme roster and monitor whether there are a sufficient number of practitioners available to deliver duty lawyer services for their scheme. This will involve co-ordinators identifying and inducting potential candidates for accreditation as duty lawyers through supervision and orientation sessions.

Recommendation for accreditation

Scheme co-ordinators can make a recommendation for the accreditation of private practitioners as duty lawyers by using the Recommendation for accreditation form (doc, 176 KB).

Reports and honorariums

Scheme co-ordinators within a private firm are entitled to payment of an honorarium. This is payable twice a year upon submission of the Scheme co-ordinator report template and tax invoice (doc, 79.5 KB).
