Family violence data recording changes for practitioners

We are updating the way we collect data about legally aided family violence services.

We are making changes to ATLAS to update the way we collect data in family violence matters.

These changes will ensure we are accurately recording the different types of clients who receive legally aided services.

By collecting more granular data, we can better evaluate the impact for clients of our work and other legally aided family violence services.

What we are doing

From Monday 4 July practitioners delivering family violence legal services will have the option to selected matter types in the Family Violence matter group relating to Affected Family Member (AFM) or Applicant.

Previously, ATLAS did not have separate reporting categories for AFMs and Applicants in family violence matters.

We have created new matter types specifically for AFMs to allow you to provide more context about who you are assisting.

What you need to do

If your client is the AFM in a matter where someone else, such as Victoria Police or a parent or guardian, has applied for a family violence intervention order on their behalf, it is appropriate that you select one of the new matter types when entering your matter in ATLAS.

If your client has applied for their own order without the involvement of Victoria Police, you should select Applicant matter types.
