We have introduced new interim fees for matters in the Supreme Court of Victoria.

This follows changes that took effect on 28 December 2025 under the Justice Legislation Amendment (Committals) Act 2025, which abolished committals for indictable matters that can only be tried in the Supreme Court. Among the changes is the expansion of section 198A applications and hearings for pre-trial cross-examination in the Supreme Court.

In response, we have created these interim fees. They are available under a grant of aid for a trial via a special disbursement.

Hearing/activityFeeHow to apply
Application for a section 198A hearing$894Special disbursement
Appearance where witness/witnesses are cross-examined – section 198A$2197Special disbursement
