We have reopened our Gippsland Morwell office on Gunaikurnai land, following an extensive renovation period, as part of our commitment to increasing access to justice in the region.
Our service to clients in the Morwell and surrounding region has been delivered through our temporary office location and phone appointments over the past year. This includes through our Gippsland Bairnsdale office, which has remained open. Our newly renovated Morwell office will enable us to provide a more accessible, inclusive and welcoming space, strengthening our ability to support regional clients.
The renovated office includes a redesigned public waiting area. It creates a more welcoming experience when accessing legal help. A new 10-person meeting room equipped with audio-visual technology will support connection and collaboration for staff across our Morwell and Bairnsdale sites and provides a space for community and stakeholder collaboration. We have also upgraded our client interview rooms with new audio-visual technology, enabling clients to attend remote appointments with professionals such as psychiatrists and psychologists as they prepare for their legal matters.
The refurbishment includes redesigned bathroom facilities featuring accessible, all-gender, male and female self-contained cubicles, making the office more inclusive and accessible for everyone who visits.
‘The reopening of the Morwell office reinforces our commitment to providing accessible, in-person legal services for people across Gippsland. Face-to-face appointments and in-person walk-in enquiries remain an important part of supporting clients with complex legal issues and connecting with local communities’, said our Gippsland regional managers Tara Bressan and Julie Riva.
This renovation marks the latest in our ongoing upgrades to our suburban and regional offices, improving our service delivery across Victoria.
‘We are grateful to our local partners – including private practitioners, community legal centres, First Peoples communities, the courts and community organisations working in the justice system – for their ongoing collaboration through this time. We also thank the state government for its continued support for legal assistance across regional Victoria.
We are also grateful to Quantum Support Services for accommodating our staff as well as the Local Health and Wellbeing Hub for facilitating many of our client interviews and assessments during this time,’ said Executive Director of Regions and Service Delivery Peter Noble.
We look forward to welcoming clients back to the Morwell office and continuing to provide legal information, advice and representation to people across the region.
