Get help with Wills and estates

We don't give legal advice about making or challenging Wills, but we may be able to give you some information over the phone. We may also be able to refer you to another organisation that can help you.

Phone 1300 792 387, Monday to Friday from 8 am to 6 pm.

If you need an interpreter let us know. Read how to get help for people with hearing or speech difficulties.

Our publications

Our publication Your Will is a booklet that covers what you need to know if you are thinking of making or changing your Will in Victoria.

Other organisations that can help

Law Institute of Victoria

The Law Institute of Victoria's Legal Referral Service can put you in touch with a Wills and estate solicitor. With a referral letter from the Law Institute, participating law firms will see clients free of charge for up to the first 30 minutes.

If you book an interview, write your questions down beforehand, so you get as much out of the free 30 minutes as possible. If you discuss getting further help from the lawyer, make sure you know how much it will cost.

Probate Office of the Supreme Court

The Probate Office deals with all applications for Grants of Representation of deceased estates in Victoria. Their website has information to assist people who are applying for a grant of probate. Registry staff may also provide advice and assistance to persons seeking to obtain representation in small estate matters.

Fitzroy Legal Service

Fitzroy Legal Service's Law Handbook has an example of a simple model Will and information about the things you might like to put in a Will. It is a guide only.
